The Black Students Virtual Career Fair will be August 18-19, 2020 from 12-4 PM EDT. On August 18, "Interview Prep Day," employers will provide free resources to students including resume review, mock interviews, and day-in-the-life breakout rooms. On August 19, "Virtual Fair Day," students will have 10-15 minute time slots with recruiters to have virtual video calls (recruiters will use InternX's built-in video solution or will provide a link for you to use their own video conferencing application). In order for you to be fully prepared for the fair, please read the following list of actions you can take leading up to the fair.
1. Make sure your profile is up to date with your latest information. This is what recruiters will be looking at to see your resume and experiences.
2. Check out the Job Postings that companies add by clicking on your "Career Fairs" tab and then selecting the "Jobs" tab. Recruiters will be adding jobs in the upcoming weeks so check back later for job postings. You can message employers through those postings if you are interested.
3. Pre-schedule with employers beginning on August 10 at 9 AM EDT. At that time, you can schedule with a company during any available time slot. To do so, select a company attending the fair, and click on their "scheduling" tab to select a time slot. For August 18th meetings, 12-2 PM EDT meetings will be for resume review and 2-4 PM EDT meetings will be mock interviews. For August 19th meetings, 12-4 PM EDT will be for 1-on-1 recruiter meetings. As a reminder, these are first come, first serve.
•If you do not get to schedule a meeting with a company you are interested in, "save" that company and check on the day of the fair for any meeting cancellations. Openings may appear that you can fill.
4. To apply for the $1,000 scholarships, select the "Apply for $1,000 Scholarship Here" job posting on either fair page, and follow the instructions on the post to submit your response.
On the days of the fair, simply head to your "Meetings" tab, refresh the page when it is your meeting time, and click "Start a Meeting." Make sure to allow camera and microphone access, and you'll be ready to speak with the recruiter!
We want to make this process as seamless as possible for you so please read the above steps throughly, and let us know if you have any questions by using the Intercom chat box in the lower right hand corner of our website.
Good luck at the virtual fair! You've got this.
